Let’s welcome this week’s warrior, Luke!
Luke Wilke is a 17 year old incoming Senior. He attends Bow High School in Bow, NH.
Luke was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2016 at age 11. Luke began experiencing esophageal pain and stomach pain at the time of diagnosis and his growth had slowed down significantly.
He has undergone 7 colonoscopies and has been on multiple oral medications early on in his diagnosis.
Luke started on a biologic a year after diagnosis and began to grow in height and weight.
He understands that diet, nutrition, and adequate sleep is of key importance in reaching and maintaining remission.
The journey has taught Luke that the more active with sports, and being mindful of what he eats the better he feels.
Luke is an active member in his school, and community. He is a starting Centerfielder for the Bow Boys Varsity high school baseball team.
Luke and his family are grateful for the support of family and friends and of the Gastroenterologists managing his care.
Like all who suffer with IBD Luke is hopeful for a cure in the near future.
Thank you so much for sharing your IBD journey with us Luke!
