Let’s welcome our very first warrior for Warrior Wednesday!
Â
Hi my name is Daanish
I was diagnosed with IBD at 22, I have lived with it for the last 12 years. It was a hard fought battle with UC, I had to try different medications which all brought different side effects.
Â
Along my journey I had a time period when I was dealing with hair loss and became completely bald and I couldn’t grow a full beard due to the medication. Some of the medication even made me develop autoimmune diseases such as asthma bone weakness and even anemia.
Â
The one thing I did to try and fight symptoms and take care of myself is exercise. I love dancing, hiking, boxing and lifting so I used those platforms to try to remain healthy.
Â
It wasn’t the easiest road, but eventually I had to have the surgery for a temporary ostomy bag. It was a hard road for me with the ostomy bag so I decided to go with the second surgery and have the j pouch takedown surgery. I have to say it was the best decision I made for myself. The outcome wasn’t perfect but I don’t regret it. 💜💜💜
