Homemade Creamy SCD Ranch Dressing

Ranch is an all American classic, and not surprisingly is the nation’s number one choice of dressing. Creamy, cool, tangy, and herbaceous, it lends itself to compliment just about anything.

Ranch got its start in 1949 in Alaska. A man named Steve Henson, a cowboy from Nebraska, whipped up this now popular dressing in an effort to keep his crew happy, and it was a huge hit. Henson would spend the next several years perfecting it. He and his wife moved to California in 1954 and there the dressing gained major popularity. He eventually started a company to mail the dressing all over the U.S. He was then bought out by Hidden Valley, and it became the ranch we all know and love.

Although Hidden Valley is popular, today it is filled with chemicals and preservatives. This SCD recipe is an homage to Henson’s original, although I swapped the buttermilk for mayonnaise, and keeps the integrity of the flavors from real ingredients put together with care.

If you need to make your mayonnaise, I have a link to my ‘extra creamy’ mayo. You can however use one whole egg instead of two egg yolks for a whiter mayonnaise, as the yolks will make it more yellow.

Whip up America’s favorite condiment in under 15 minutes. With no chemicals or preservatives, just full flavor, creaminess, and comfort. So what are you waiting for? Enjoy some ranch today!
