The Best Refined Sugar-Free SCD ‘Ginger Ale’

Refreshing and bubbly with a hint of peppery sweet ginger, this ‘ginger ale’ is good to the last drop! Easy to make, and gut friendly, this version is refined sugar-free, yeast-free, and SCD compliant. Traditionally, ginger ale gets its bubbles from the yeast that is put in it, but this is not allowed on SCD. More modern versions have forced carbonation like other sodas. To make this version bubbly, I have simply added club soda, as it is SCD friendly and gives the same fizzy bubbles that we all know and love. Be sure to either make this right before you want to have it, or make the honey, ginger, and lemon base ahead of time, and refrigerate until ready to drink. This ginger ale is great anytime, but also for when nausea hits, as fresh ginger is known as a natural remedy for an upset stomach. Cheers!

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp. ginger, fresh and grated 

¼ cup lemon juice, fresh 

1 cup water 

½ cup honey 

6 cups club soda

  Method Of Prep:

  1. Gather and prep ingredients.
  2. Start by grating your ginger and juicing your lemons, set aside.
  3. In a small pot add 1 cup of water and honey.
  4. Bring to a simmer and whisk until honey is dissolved.
  5. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  6. Once cooled, add in ginger and lemon juice. Stir to evenly incorporate.
  7. Transfer to a pitcher and add in club soda.
  8. Gently stir and add ice if desired.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy!
