Lavender Lemonade

Spring is just around the corner, and this lavender infused lemonade is the perfect way to celebrate. SCD compliant, and with all the sweet tart zesty lemon you remember accompanied by floral and herbaceous lavender, it may just become your favorite lemonade. I like to steep the lavender for 30-45 minutes to impart flavor, but keep the lavender as a background note. If you want a stronger lavender flavor, steep for the entire hour before straining. You can find food grade lavender on Amazon or in Health Food stores, and it is usually quite affordable. If you can find food grade that is also organic, all the better. To add a fun garnish, dip the top lip of your glassware in water, then dip into dried lavender to create a lavender rim. This lemonade will keep for up to 5 days in the refrigerator for a quick and refreshing pick me up. Lavender Lemonade

Ingredients:

For the Simple Syrup:

1 cup honey 

1 cup water  

2 Tbsp. lavender, food grade 

 

For the Lemonade: 

1 batch of simple syrup (above) 

6 cups water, filtered 

1 ¼ cups lemon juice, fresh (about 6-7 lemons) 

Lemon slices, for garnish 

Extra lavender, food grade, for garnish 

  Method Of Prep:

  1. Gather and prep ingredients.
  2. In a small pot add 1 cup of water, and your honey. Bring to a boil until the honey has dissolved.
  3. Remove from heat and add in lavender. Allow it to steep for at least 30 minutes to an hour depending on desired strength of lavender flavor.
  4. While steeping, juice your lemons and prep your garnishes.
  5. Once time has elapsed, strain the simple syrup.
  6. Add simple syrup, water, and lemon juice to a pitcher and stir.
  7. Add ice to your glassware, then add lemonade.
  8. Garnish with some lavender and a lemon slice. Enjoy!
