Orange, Honey, & Ginger Glazed Salmon

This orange, honey, and ginger glaze will rock your world! It’s sticky and sweet with flavor to spare! The ginger packs a nice spicy punch, and breaks up the sweetness of the orange and honey well. I’m rather fond of pairing this glaze with salmon, as I have done here, but you can use this glaze on chicken, white fish, and even pork. You can even make the glaze up ahead, and store in the refrigerator for an even faster weeknight meal or entertaining in a cinch. When picking out your salmon, try to get sustainably wild caught, as it will be the best for you and the earth. And if you need another reason, wild caught tends to have a heightened buttery flavor and firmer texture. If your fillets come with the skin on and you’re having a hard time getting the skin off cleanly, you can always leave the skin on and easily pull it off once cooked.

Ingredients:

4 Salmon fillets

1 Tbsp. oil, olive or avocado

1 Cup orange juice, fresh or not from concentrate

½ Cup honey

1 ½ Tbsps. ginger, grated

1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard

1 Tbsp. sesame oil

4 cloves of garlic, minced

Salt, TT

Black pepper, TT

4 green onions, sliced for topping

      Method Of Prep:

  1. Gather and prep ingredients.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  3. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper.
  4. Pat the salmon dry and season with oil, salt, and pepper on both sides. Set on lined sheet tray.
  5. While the oven is preheating, prep ingredients for sauce.
  6. In a medium saucepan, add orange juice, honey, ginger, Dijon, and garlic.
  7. Bring to a boil, and let the sauce reduce by half and thicken, about 10-15 minutes.
  8. Add in sesame oil when the sauce is finished reducing.
  9. Place salmon in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes total or until the internal temperature has reached 145°F.
  10. While salmon is baking, in 5-minute intervals brush the sauce over the salmon.
  11. Be sure to use two separate containers, one for brushing and one for serving. You don’t want to use the brushing sauce after it has touched raw fish.
  12. Once salmon is cooked, remove from the oven.
  13. Drizzle with finishing sauce, and top with green onions.
  14. Serve immediately and enjoy!
