The Best & Easiest SCD Slow Cooker BBQ Pork

This slow-cooker BBQ pulled pork is sure to become a family favorite! Easy to make, low-maintenance, and absolutely amazing flavor that will leave you questioning if it was really cooked in a slow-cooker!

I never really loved BBQ pulled pork until after I moved to North Carolina. Here in the South, down-home cooking and BBQ rain supreme, and it’s easy to see why. They have perfected it (in my opinion, anyway).

This BBQ pulled pork is great for a cozy family weeknight dinner, backyard barbecue, or even entertaining guests. Slow-cooked to perfection and layered with savory notes, this dish is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Have killer BBQ pork anytime of year without even firing up the grill!

Try having this pulled pork with my SCD BBQ Sauce to take it to the next level, or alongside Classic Coleslaw, or SCD Baked Beans.

Serves 10-12
Prep: 10 min
Cooking 6-8 hours*

Total: 4-8 hours 10 min
Beginner

Ingredients:

4-5½ lb. Boston butt, bone in shoulder roast

2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. black pepper

1 cup yellow onion, small dice

6-8 cloves garlic, minced

8 oz. tomato paste, no sugar added

½ cup apple cider vinegar

½ cup honey

¼ cup water

2 Tbsp. bone broth

2 tsp. paprika

2 tsp. mustard powder

  Method Of Prep:

  1.  Gather and prep ingredients. Set up your slow cooker.
  2. Add in onion, garlic, tomato paste, vinegar, honey, water, bone broth, paprika, and mustard powder. Stir together in the bottom of your slow cooker until evenly distributed.
  3. Trim any extra fat off the pork. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Place pork into your slow cooker. Spoon some of the sauce on top.
  5. Place the lid on and turn on low for 6-8 hours or until internal temperature has reached 190°F. Alternatively, you can do low for 2 hours and high for 2 hours. Just be sure it reaches 190°F, as this temperature is what allows for that perfect pulled pork texture.
  6. Remove pork from the slow cooker and allow it to rest on a sheet tray for 10 minutes.
  7. Using an immersion blender, carefully blend tomato mixture until smooth.
  8. Shred pork, discard bone, and place back in the slow cooker. Toss the pork in the sauce using tongs.
  9. Taste, and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve immediately and enjoy!
